The BSAVA’s new president has backed the organisation to continue thriving as he took up the role at its annual meeting today (20 June).

Julian Hoad succeeded Carl Gorman during the meeting held at the association’s Gloucestershire headquarters and told members he was “humbled” by his new position as the group’s 67th president.

He added: “It is certainly the pinnacle of my veterinary career, and the greatest honour yet bestowed on me in life.”

South-east stint

A former partner, owner and latterly clinical director at Crossways Vets in West Sussex, Dr Hoad has previously served on the association’s south-east regional committee, including a stint as its chair.

He also had spells on the association’s education, publication and Petsavers grant awarding committee before becoming junior vice-president two years ago.

He told the meeting: “I really do believe that the BSAVA will continue to go from strength to strength, and will continue to maintain its relevance and position as the indispensable voice of the small animal veterinary profession.

“I will be aided and abetted by my colleagues and our amazing volunteers all over the country, and I cannot thank you enough for putting your faith in me as your new president.”
