Celebrating regenerative farming |
|
Volac is delighted to support a series of farm walks organised by the British farmer-owned dairy co-operative First Milk this summer, which are designed to showcase regenerative agriculture on UK dairy units. Come and visit us on the Volac stand and be in with a chance to win two bags of Volac Milk Replacer by signing up to our Feed For Growth Newsletter. Held in Ayrshire, Cumbria, Derbyshire and Pembrokeshire, the four celebratory events during July and August give the general public the opportunity to see close-up the regenerative farming practices being practised on four dairy farms supplying milk to First Milk. Typically, this means following sustainable farming principles that work to restore and regenerate soils and the wider ecosystem. Forging collaborative partnerships based on sustainability in agriculture is at the heart of Volac’s business ethos too and the company is proud of its long-standing relationship with First Milk. “Like First Milk, Volac is firmly focused on helping British dairy farmers produce milk in a healthy, sustainable way,” said Samantha Sampson, Volac’s Product Manager for Young Animal Nutrition. “As a British family-owned business, we have been at the heart of the UK dairy industry for over 50 years. This involves a commitment to purchasing and utilising the whey co-product made available as part of the First Milk’s Golden Hoof cheese manufacturing process. We turn this whey into a unique concentrated milk protein (Imunopro®), which forms the basis of our precision-formulated calf milk replacers purchased by British dairy farmers.” |

Imunopro® helps British dairy farmers grow |
|
“It sets pre-weaned calves up for a lifetime of productivity when they reach the adult milking herd. Fed correctly, following Volac milk formula feeding recommendations, this means healthier, faster growing calves; a younger age at first calving; and ultimately, more milk produced per cow thanks to increased longevity in the herd,” she said.
In addition, through its range of proven forage preservatives, Volac also helps British dairy farmers reduce waste and retain greater nutrient content in home-grown silage. What’s more, its responsibly sourced feed fats and innovative feed additive portfolios help lactating dairy cows exploit their full genetic potential as efficiently as possible, whilst also cutting enteric methane emissions. |
