Each Christmas, NVS Group’s Festive Fundraising Campaign allows us to raise some much-needed funds for a very worthwhile charity. By nominating a charity to be the beneficiary for our 2024 festive fundraising campaign and also serve as our designated charity for 2025, we aim to deepen our commitment to the causes that resonate deeply with our team, providing ongoing support to these deserving organisations.

In the spirit of inclusivity, we once again opened the floor to all NVS Group employees to nominate charities close to their hearts. There were many incredibly worthwhile charities nominated, with each suggestion reflecting the diversity and empathy within our NVS Group community. After careful consideration, we’ve decided to split our fundraising efforts between two charities:

Pawz For Thought (rescue, rehabilitation and rehoming)
Nominated by Peter Carmody, a Driver at our Durham Depot.

“This charity does amazing work with animals in the North East and does so on a shoestring. They help to rehome cats and dogs and also help with hedgehogs, seagulls, and any animal that needs help. They are really there for our region. Please see their website and I’m sure you’ll come to the same conclusion as all us animal lovers from the North East.”

Pawz for Thought is an animal charity based in Sunderland but operating throughout the North East of England. Formed in 2003 as a positive hands-on response to the distressingly high number of animal welfare issues in the region. Pawz for Thought has grown to the point where they successfully handle hundreds of animals each year. The Charity has no paid staff and everything they achieve is through the hard work of their volunteers and supporters.

Relax with Lucy
Nominated by Hannah Browning, Head of Haematology, NationWide Laboratories

“The charity is set up by my good friend Lucy to support families going through baby loss. They provide a free support line, online community, retreats and resources to assist families in need of help. Lucy has developed a free baby loss support app (Ellie’s Gift), which the NHS is piloting, but they need funding to help further develop and advertise it. Lucy is a mental health nurse but founded the charity after losing her baby girl, Ellie.”

Relax with Lucy & Co is a UK-based not-for-profit organisation dedicated to providing support for families grappling with the unimaginable loss of a baby.
They are a small team that aims to provide a compassionate, understanding environment that allows parents and families to express their grief, share their experiences, and find hope amidst pain.
