Congratulations to Jacob Shutt, our Digital Marketing Co-ordinator, who was chosen as one of the London Vet Show’s (LVS) 30 Under Thirty Class of 2024. This initiative celebrates the industry’s most promising and innovative young professionals who are driving positive change within the veterinary sector by demonstrating outstanding achievements and setting new standards. It also provides them with a network to learn from each other and continue progressing in their careers.
Jacob is a perfect candidate for this recognition. Joining NVS as an apprentice in 2017, he has transformed to become the company’s digital marketing lead. His passion for digital marketing is evident in every project he undertakes, inspiring those around him and elevating his profile within the organisation. Jacob’s recent oversight of the successful launch of two websites showcases his meticulous attention to detail and skill, and he is always willing to lend a helping hand.
Paul Gilbert, NVS Group’s Head of Marketing and Communications, explains why he nominated Jacob for the award. “Jacob consistently delivers exceptional results, whether it’s developing engaging websites or implementing effective digital marketing strategies. His proactive approach, strong work ethic, and willingness to collaborate with others have earned him the respect and admiration of his colleagues. I am confident that Jacob will continue to excel in his role and make significant contributions to our organisation.”
We spoke to Jacob about the award and what it means to him:
How do you feel about being chosen as one of the ‘Class of 2024’?
I was very grateful to have been nominated and chosen to be part of the class of 2024. It’s rare that someone from a marketing background is chosen for this award, so I’m extremely happy that the work I’ve put in over the years has been noticed in the industry. I hope that this will give me a few insights into how other people work in the industry and how they overcome some of the challenges they face working in the veterinary industry.
What benefits do you think it will bring/how will it help you in your career going forward?
The initiative will give me valuable insight into how other professionals work, from veterinary surgeons to importers and exporters of vaccines/medicines. It certainly will be an eye-opening and hopefully educational experience within the veterinary field. I hope it provides me with information on how we can help veterinary professionals get the most out of our business and provide care for their clients.
Tell us a bit more about your role at NVS.
At NVS Group, I’m responsible for most aspects of digital marketing, from managing content on NVS Web and parts of NVS Online to emailing offers and communications to customers in a timely manner. I also manage our social media channels and look for new ways to connect to our audience in this digital age.
My role is quite rounded and has given me a chance to experience a lot in the digital landscape; I particularly like to look at data and see how the efforts we make as a business translate to sales of our products and services. I hope to have a long career at NVS Group and I’m always looking at new ways to gain new skills and develop myself both professionally but also as a person. I’m really thankful to have worked here for 7 years and progressed from being a Marketing Apprentice to my current role. I’d like to continue in this role and develop my skillset, especially with the introduction of AI in marketing; I’d love to learn how we can utilise this in marketing to streamline our work.
Join us in celebrating Jacob’s achievement, and looking forward to his continued contributions to NVS Group and the veterinary industry. Congratulations, Jacob!
